Author and Staff Coordinator: Joshua Gilliland

Joshua is a Virginia native who has been involved with the music scene for a decade. He has photographed dozens of bands in the past running the gamut from the super low key groups to popular nation-wide acts. Joshua used to be a strictly metal guru but grew into a place much more comfortable to him, Old-Time and folk. While he still loves a good breakdown or face melting guitar solo from time to time, his heart lies with that mountain music passed down by his ancestors. He has a passion for his photography and his music.

Author: John Pence

In his years of youth, John Pence has realized early that music was his niche. Comfortable on any stage, the sixteen year old, singer/songwriter, has played all over, from 5-star restaurants to bars, writers nights and open mics to even rental spaces, churches, and museums! His hometown, Roanoke, is just his starting place.

Going into high school, John branched off of playing in a band when he realized his priorities were much different. John took all the songs he wrote throughout middle school and copyrighted them. At age fourteen, John recorded his first EP at Nickel & Dime Studios, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Author: Nik Oliver

Nik is a native and current resident of Lynchburg, Virginia. Music never quite resonated with him until he was almost in high school, prior to which his cassette collection consisted of only Michael Jackson's Thriller and the soundtrack to the Lion King. It took his father making him listen to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon for him to understand what music is all about. Since his lessons in the essentials of classic rock he pursued more music than what regular FM radio would reveal, and through this search discovered a love for folk, new wave and alternative. Nik also enjoys film, literature, and anything else that might make him seem intelligent to girls. He intends to one day return to college and eventually teach but in the meantime he is chiefly interested in doing anything that will help him procrastinate on that goal.

Author: Tizzy Gruss

Tizzy Gruss was born and raised in Earlysville, Virginia, a small town home to many cows and trees. She hopes to someday start going to class and eventually teach elementary school art. Some of Tizzy's favorite things are anything creative, animals, tye dye, music in the widest sense of the word, laughing, swimming, and jello shots. She would love to live at either the beach or a music festival, and own a pet tiger. If you play against this girl at beer pong, try to not be a sore loser.

T.J. Wells was born, still lives in (and will probably die in) Roanoke, Virginia. While the outside world beckons him from time to time, he always seems to return to the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. T.J.'s musical tastes are a little all-over-the-place. He grew up in a home where you could hear both Alice Cooper and The Oak Ridge Boys on the record player in the same day. He is a long-time fan of punk rock, but has a good time listening to just about anything. T.J. cut his photographic teeth shooting skateboarders and punk bands in the early 1990's. That photography sparked a love affair with his camera and ultimately led to a career making images. He is currently a working advertising photographer who still loves shooting both music and sports.
